I began riding at the age of three years old, when my mother – who has been working with horses her entire life – put me on my first pony. From that moment on, I was hooked.
Not long after, we moved to our family farm in Chestnut Ridge, NY. Living on the farm, I was fortunate to ride a wide range of horses almost every day – from the lesson program to green sale ponies, and everything in between. As my riding developed, I was also given the opportunity to train and show a number of ponies on behalf of clients at the farm. This eventually led me to begin catch riding on behalf of other barns and trainers at major horse shows like HITS, Lake Placid, Capital Challenge and Pony Finals.
That experience has been the most formative of my career so far. The lessons I’ve gotten from riding and competing on so many new horses and from working with so many different trainers and owners are equally valuable inside the show ring and out.
But for me, growing up on the farm hasn’t just been about riding. I learned the value of horsemanship and horse care above all else, gained exposure to every aspect of the business and the day-to-day operations of managing a 60-stall barn.
To say horses are my passion would be an understatement and my dedication to the sport doesn’t leave time for a lot of extracurriculars. But maintaining a barn-life balance has always been important to me, whether it’s keeping up with school, my friends outside the barn, or traveling to new countries with my family.
